$5 for those not fishing, $5 for float tubers and $6 to $8

LAKE ELSINORE Lake Elsinore State Recreation

fee of $6 paid at public boat launch includes fishing and
launching. Hours: Sunrise to sunset daily.
LAKE HEMET in Mountain Center in the San

General directions: Off Highway 74, which can
be accessed from Interstate 215. Facilities:
Campgrounds with hookups, a market, a marina, a boat ramp,
a laundry center, playgrounds, a basketball court, a baseball

Fishing, boating and sports on shore. No swimming permitted
in the lake. Fishing for trout, bass, catfish and bluegill.
Rentals: Motorboats and rowboats. Fees: $8 day
fee per vehicle for up to two people, $4 per day for boat
launch, $13 per vehicle for camping and $16.25 for full hookups.
Hours: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the summer and
7 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the winter. Boats must be off the
lake by sunset.
LAKE PERRIS Lake Perris State Recreation

directions: Off Interstate 215 and the Ramona Expressway.
Facilities: Campgrounds, a marina, a boat ramp,
picnic areas, a snack bar and a water slide. Bait and tackle
and groceries are available. Activities: Water-skiing,
sailing and use of personal watercraft. Fishing for trout,
bass, catfish and bluegill. Rentals: Fishing boats and personal
watercraft. Fees: $3 per vehicle. Call for camping
fees. Hours: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Boats
must be off the water at sunset.
LAKE SKINNER Lake Skinner County Park in

General directions: Off Interstate 15 at the
Rancho California Avenue exit. Facilities: Campgrounds
with hookups, picnic areas, a marina, a camp store, a boat
ramp, a swimming pool in the summer and bait and tackle. Activities:

10 feet, canoes, kayaks and inflatables prohibited. Fishing
for trout, catfish, bluegill and largemouth and striped bass.
Rentals: Fishing boats and pontoons. Fees: $5
per day for those 16 and older and $4 for those 6 to 15. Boat
launch is $2 and campsites are $15 to $16 or $18 with hookup.
Hours: 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
San Bernardino
County
BIG BEAR LAKE San Bernardino National Forest,

fishing, Big Bear Queen boat tours and wake boarding. No boats

required.) Rentals: Fishing boats, kayaks, canoes, pontoons,
ski boats, personal watercraft and cabins. Fees:
$10 for boat launch. Hours: Sunrise to Sunset April - November

LAKE GREGORY Crestline at Lake Gregory National

Highway 138 in Crestline, north of San Bernardino. Facilities:
Picnic areas, a water slide, a snack bar, groceries, bait
and tackle, two public beaches and a boathouse. Activities:
Fishing, sailing, swimming and paddle boarding. No private
boats are permitted. Fishing for trout, crappie and bass.
Rentals: Rowboats, fishing boats, sailboats, paddleboards
and aqua cycles. Fees: Shore fishing can be
done free. Lake fishing requires a boat rental fee. Hours:
7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends during
the summer. Swimming is permitted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in
the summer. Closed in the winter.
SILVERWOOD Lake Hesperia, (760) 389-2281,

Bernardino at Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area. Take
the Silverwood Lake exit off Interstate 15 to Highway 138.
Facilities: Campgrounds, a marina, a six-lane
boat ramp, picnic areas, concessions and a bait shop. Activities:
Fishing, water-skiing, swimming, use of personal watercraft
and hiking. Fishing for rainbow trout, large-mouth bass, striped
bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish. Rentals: Personal watercraft
and fishing boats. Fees: $3 per day entrance
fee and $8 per campsite per night. Hours: 6
a.m. to 9 p.m during the summer and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during
the winter.
San Diego County
EL CAPITAN www.sannet.gov
General directions: 30 miles Northeast of Downtown San Diego. El Capitan is the only lake in San Diego County that allows the use of personal watercraft, such as jetskis. One arm of the lake is dedicated to the use of these vessels.
The number of personal watercraft allowed on the lake at any one time is determined by how safe lake personnel feel it is, but as a general rule the limit is 100.
The use of personal watercraft (jetskis, waverunners, etc.) begins on May 17, 2002, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There is no water-skiing or towing of any kind permitted due to low water level.
Fees: Adult permits are $5.00 & youth permits (8-15 years) are $2.50. Private boat use permit for each personal watercraft is $5.00.
Hours: Sunrise to sunset summer months.
Ventura
LAKE CACHUMA Cachuma Lake, HC 58, Santa Barbars, CA 93105, 805-686-5054General directions:North on the 101 towards Solvang, take the 154 towards Santa Barbara.
Activities:Boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, camping, swimming pools bicycle rentals.

LAKE CASITAS Casitas, (805) 649-2233. General
directions: Ventura Freeway (101) to Highway 33 to
Highway 150. Facilities: Campgrounds, including
some with hookups; seven playgrounds; 13 picnic areas; a boat
ramp; a full-service marina; bait and tackle; a restaurant;
and groceries. Activities: Boating, fishing,
a water playground and seasonal concerts and festivals. Boats
under 11 feet or more than 24 feet are prohibited. Fishing
for largemouth bass, redear sunfish, catfish, rainbow trout
and crappie. Rentals: Fishing boats, canoes, kayaks and bicycles.
Fees: $16 to $18 for campsites, $22 to $41 for
campsites with hookups, $12.50 for vehicle and boat and $6.50
for just a vehicle. Hours: Daylight to dusk.

for trout, bluegill, crappie, catfish and bass. Rentals: Fishing
boats and pontoon boats. Fees: $7.50 per day
per vehicle, $22 for a campsite and $25 to $31 for a campsite
with hookups. Hours: Sunrise to sunset year-round.
